Glad this week is over
I had one of those weeks where nothing went right.
Our piece of shit Lucent AP-500 lost it's configuration, and resisted all attempts at reconfiguring it.
We replaced it, but the new access point caused my already flakey Intel Pro 2100 wireless card to freak out. After about 30 seconds it would drop the signal and refuse all atempts at forcing a reconnection. Even though I could see it was receiving the wireless beacons from our new AP. I thought upgrading the drivers might help, but the fucking installer failed half-way through completely disabling networking. Amazingly a reinstall of XP fixed it... although that required 2 hours of reinstalling Windows critical updates.
Since I stayed late repairing my networking, I got screwed by road construction. They closed the Fort Pitt tunnels, routing 2 interstates around the city, and ultimately onto a one lane road with a red light that was allowing 6 cars through each cycle(WTF!). It took 30 minutes to travel less than a mile. I finally got through it, only to find that the interstate on the other side (I376) was restricted down to one lane too for more construction.
I couldn't get context sensitive help to work with our VB client, even though I really shouldn't need to do anything complicated to make it work. Since the mechanism really isn't in code, I'm not even sure how to debug it.
Every god damn time I went to get a cup of coffee I got stuck with half a cup. Admittedly I have a huge coffee mug, but still... I ended up making 12 pots in 5 days.
One of my brake calipers was dragging, forcing me to work on it late at night due to impending rain the next day (I hate riding my motorcycle in the rain.)
On the way home Friday, the nuts on one of my shock absorbers shook themselves loose. (I didn't install them... I left that to my friend and novice wrench Andrew
Ugh. Today wasn't so bad... I got a few things done, and there is a shit load of Formula One to watch on the Tivo (Go, M. Schumacher!)
