We kept wondering when the snow was going to get here... well it's here with more on the way. It's about 15F outside, the snow is very fine and fluffy and it's coming down in a hurry. It took me about 20 minutes to shovel the driveway and when I was done, there was already almost an inch of snow where I started. I wanted to play in the snow, but it was a bit too cold for deb. She came out for a quick walk around the block and headed back inside. Solo sled-riding is no fun, so I had to find something else to do. I decided to bring the Milano out for some playtime in the snow. The Milano is rear wheel drive, has a perfect 50/50 weight balance, and currently shod with Dunlop Graspic winter tires. With a properly adjusted nut behind the wheel she goes quite well in the snow. That said 6" of fresh snow makes for some very slippery conditions. It took me about a minute to calibrate my reflexes, and then I started giving her the whip. I'm no Tommi Makinen but I had the Alfa struting her stuff... even pulled off a half-assed pendulum turn. I bombed around for a half-hour or so before I got nervous that someone might call the cops. As it turns out, Deb couldn't even hear me when I strafed the house... the snow was effectively killing the exhaust note. It was probably good that I quit when I did anyway... I was starting to plow a groove in the snow allowing for a marked increase in speed.
