I needed to mount a large cabinet in the kitchen yesterday. Since the mounting hole were pre-determined I was not able to screw directly into the studs... which is no picnic anyway since they are hard to find behind the 3/4" thick plaster in our home. So I was stuck mounting the cabinets directly to the plaster. I haven't had very good experiences with expanding bolts (they seem to work better in drywall) or plastic inserts (they just aren't very confidence inspiring. So I was hoping to find something better in the fastener isle at Home Despot, and, surprise, I did. The Snaptoggle from Toggler. These things are excellent. Drill a 1/2" hole, slip the toggle end in, sinch up the keyper, and snap off the arms. Presto. They are fast, they work with a wide range of wall thicknesses, and don't require a huge hole for installation. These beat the hell out of conventional toggle bolts.
