Nothing I love more than administering a computer... how could I work more into my daily life? I know, a computer-like phone. sigh I upgraded the firmware on my Treo 600 phone yesterday. I was waiting until the 128meg SD card I ordered was delivered. It's necessary to for the firmware upgrade. I followed the instructions found in the firmware upgrade faq. It went very smoothly. The only thing missing from the FAQ is how to do a hard reset. I'll save you from RTFM: Hold down power button, poke reset switch, continue to hold power button until you see the palm logo, release button. Then push "up" on the 5-way to trigger the hard reset. The new firmware is pretty cool. Most noticable is the improvement of the camera. It works much better in low light situations. It is still pretty shitty, but it's better. Apparently now I can record video and audio with Movie_Rec from I also upgraded my Pocket Tunes mp3 player app. Now I can stream shoutcast streams over my phone. I'm getting about 32kbps with via GPRS, which limits my streaming, but I mostly listen to NPR which is fine at low bit rates. Of course, I realize how retarded it is to have a several hundred dollar phone, with a substantial monthly service fee, just to have a crappy radio that runs down my battery. But it's silly to climb Mount Everest too.
