The Triumph Daytona has been described as the gentleman's sportbike by some... it is less hard edged, or single purposed as it's peers like the Yamaha R1, Suzuki GSXR1000, and Kawasaki ZX10s. Those bikes dust the Daytona when compared head to head... and my Daytona is now 6 years behind the state of the art. However, for those not familar with liter bikes, it would be hard to believe just how much performance that even a comparatively laid-back Daytona can deliver. For instance: A few days ago, after turning onto the above highlighted on-ramp at about 40mph, I briefly crested 120mph (nearly 200kph) leaving enough space leftover in order to slow down for the merge. The ramp is 300yards long, and steeply uphill. Such is the joy of big bore sportbikes... even the slow ones.
